Daisy is only now coming together on her schooling. At our last yard she was a very happy hacker but I have fanciful ideas of actually having an injury free summer and taking her out dressagin next year so we need to get the flatwork sorted.

She's coming on nicely in walk and trot, doing loads of circles, transitions and basic lateral work to get her up of the forehand and using her hind end more.

The problem comes with her canter, we're stuck in a bit of a rut with her motorbiking round corners and i don't know where to go with it next. I know its because she's unbalanced, at first she found it hard to canter at all in the school so we worked on building strength in a nice bouncy canter with me sat in the saddle rather than in a light seat out on hacks so that she learned to carry me as well as herself. she's now cantering nicely in the school and goes easily into the transition but cornering is abit hairy because she really moterbikes. I'm assuming its lack of bend and balance but can someone recommend some exercises we can do to help her? The trot is improving all the time so she can balance herself properly, something about cantering seems to throw all the pretty collection out the window.

I am having lessons, just nice to hear different opinions on the issue.

*mince pies if you got this far*

The only advice I can offer is just make sure you are not motorbiking with her. When going around the corners, sit up tall and put more weight in your outside stirrup and use a bit more inside leg, supporting her with your outside rein - if that makes sense.

Wish you luck and well done with your other flat work
