Motorcyclists: your friends on the byway

I'm pleased to see this thread. Thank you for taking the time to explain the difference with the bikes/racing GBRob! :)

My brother competes in Enduros and regularly goes trial riding/green laning with my dad. (Particularly in Wales) They are always extra visualent about looking out for horse riders and walkers (although often get trouble from the ramblers who feel no-one else should be allowed on the byways apart from themselves!) I also like to go green laning with my dad in our Landy:)

I hate that motor-bikers all get tarred with the same brush!

motorcycles are fine i find its the push bikes that are the problem, and have a had a few "chats" with them before, after they come whizzing up behind you at a right speed then charge past you really closely!! but if i was to do that to them in my car imagine the numbers of middle fingers etc i would see ;)!!!

Nice guys/gals :D

Have not yet met a bad motorcyclist :D *crosses fingers tightly*. As I ride motorbikes I think I'd take it personally if I did!

I have ridden motorbikes for over 30 years and used to build a lot of engines for custom bikes, so I've met quite a few 'colourful characters'. Unfortunately, as a horse rider I have also recently met a complete t0$$er riding a Harley Davidson, who insisted on revving his 'hog' while my OH and I were riding through some traffic calming. Long story short, I ended up giving him a right mouthful and he gave me a rather pathetic finger. Lucky for him I was not within riding whip distance or that particular digit would now be broken. I was even more annoyed by this event as I ride a Buell (HD engine) and can easily pass horses without causing the horses or riders any concern, and was doing so long before I rode horses.

There's always one!

Oh, and YES, I DID take it personally.

I would have shouted ' you want to get a 3 point linkage on that thing mate and do something usefull with it!!!!! He was most likely a born again biker the sort that had a moped with the baffles knocked out in the 80s that went round and round the town endlessly every night
then took his car test, and now the kids are grown up he wants to show off...pi22 everyone off more like the sad little limp dick...

Interesting thread.. I have done 4x4 trials, motocross, enduro, and green laning in the past Im fairly new to horses but realy enjoying the change i am tempted to get another bike
as the bike crowd are great, so its good to see a positive opinion of bikers on here...

I did shout, and I'm pretty sure the entire village is now well aware of exactly what thought of him, his fat belly wrapped in tasselled leather, his dark glasses and his (lack of) riding skills.

As for the rest, I reckon you are spot on.

Ride the dream, my a..........
