Hi All

Im new to Moulton, Northampton with my three horses and just wondered if any one around there would like to go out hacking? I dont know any of the routes, and the two times i have been out ive only gone round the village =( and as its summer i would love to start going for long hacks. Im also looking for someone to go to shows with as my other half does not enjoy it (he's not horsey at all!) I have a horsebox and go to a lot of showjumping shows so i have space for another horse/pony yo come along too! If any one is nearby let me know! =O)

Hi Paula,
Cant help with specific hacking routes but I know you can get a permit to ride around pitsford resevoir which is nice. Might also be worth popping in to the college and asking about hacking routes.
What sort of SJ comps do you go to, BS or Unaff?
Oh and welcome to northampton. :D

Hi and welcome to Moulton. I don't have a horse any more but know the area. have you found Specs lane yet?. Also buy an ordnance survey map (the ones with the most detail, sorry can't remember the spec) This will show you the bridleways in your area.

If you're at the College theres it's own private bridleway.

I used to be stabled at College and loved the Pitsford resi ride round.....though we never had to have a permit for it?!

Or rather....never had one at least. No-onefrom college did :s Lol!!!

Other than specs lane [which is crappy] I never once went down any other bridleway really....it was a lot of road hacking till you met any decent bridleways I found. If you go Foxhill way there's some down there, but a lot of it is road hacking.

Edited - might be worth messaging Lauren on here?

Hi All

thanks for the info, i had heard about the college private bridleway but unfortunately im no longer studying there. i sometimes compete there at the unaffiliated SJ days. I'm hoping they do a few more BSJA intro shows but cant see any on their calendar yet as im hoping to affiliate soon.
Ive driven down specs lane, dnt really like the look of it due to the huge hill (and speed i have seen cars fly down it at!!)
I have thought about going out the back way of moulton to cross the a43 at the roundabout by the garage to go off to Sywell but think that may be a bit dodgy unless i go early? Bit of a pain with all the road work =(
