Hi I'm thinking about getting a Mountain Horse Body Guard Jacket. I had a bad fall with my youngster and haven't ridden without a body protector since, but hacking out is quite unpleasurable, when you have to be hunched over by a body protecor all the time. Does anyone know if this would be any good? thanks

Yes, I own one. I only wear it hacking and fortunately have not had a fall in it yet.
I took out one set of pads, but left all the others in and find it comfortable. I had
to get a size smaller than usual as they seem to run large.

Good luck -- dene

From what I understand, if your BP is making you tip forward in the saddle because it is catching at the back, then your BP is too long. I was told this by a BETA trained fitter.

I have had this problem and shortened my old BP. It's only a temporary measure anyway, as I will get a new one properly fitted in the Spring.

mrsmozart on here has one, PM her to ask. i'm sure she won't mind x

I do indeed and I love it :D :D :D

Easy to move around and ride in :D

Waterproof :D

Good at keeping the wind out :D

Washes well (take the padding out first!) :D

I fell off Dizz at speed. Bashed my head; had a hat on, but had a bleed on the brain - shows how hard I hit the ground! I didn't have an ouch or a bruise on any other part of me, the jacket took it all. It still looks as good as new :D

I too have one and so does my sister. We both think they are great, have had them a few years now and mine is as good as new, sister has had a problem with the zip in hers. I wouldn't take any bits of it out, I have to say. They are dismantleable (if that is a word) for washing and fit back together fine. The only improvement I would make is that I would make them Hi-Viz, they have reflective bits, but not much use, so have to wear tabbard over the top. They are not restrictive at all. I have a BP, but rarely wear it as I find it uncomfortable, I wear the bodyguard to hack out all winter, and if it is cold and wet in summer :)
