I have just bought some but don't intend getting the corresponding footwear as I love my Ariats. Slightly annoying thing is that as I am a size 39, it was suggested I go for the 120mm ones, and they seem huge, but didn't want to risk an injury by getting the smaller ones. I haven't ridden with them yet, and wonder what the general consensus is with them? (if they are totally cr*p then I still have the box so could poss return them)
Many thanks.

I'm the opposite to you in that I have the boots and use the treads in some ordinary bent iron stirrup irons and I find it to be a good arrangement. It encourages me to keep my heel down and I don't seem to lose my stirrups particularly. I didn't fancy the irons as I couldn't see any benefit to them over my bent iron ones.

I am the same as ann-jen and have the boots/treads but not the stirrups, so I'm afraid I'm not much help. I have heard however, that the MH treads which are designed to be used with the boots are very slippy when wearing other footwear, so you may want to put regular rubber treads in to help.

(I would suggest getting some snazzy new boots though as I love the boot/tread system!)

I have the stirrups and the boots and love them!!

Have only ridden in the stirrups without the boots a few times and they are fine to ride in. I don't get as good as a position as i do with the boots, however it is perfectly fine! I have yet to fall off, or get in a compromising position in them, so can't vouch for them in that sense. They are quite weighty which i like and they generally are quite bulky looking but when riding in them they look fine.

However i wouldn't have bought them if i wasn't getting the boots aswell!

There was a thread about these a few days ago. I couldn't keep my feet in the SC3 stirrups when I didn't have my MH boots on. I've just got rid of them in fact for that very reason.
