Anyone got a pair of these? I really like Mountain Horse boots, and need a new pair of yard boots. I have decided to get a pair that I can ride in, as then I am not wrecking my posh riding boots that I would use for competitions (plus changing boots is a pain in the bum!)

Any got a pair of Snowy River boots? What do you wear on the yard and when riding?

I live in my Ariat jodphur boots. They are used for everything, from mucking out and poo picking, to walking the dogs, to riding, and even polished up for use as everyday shoes! Have had them for about two years and they are starting to wear out. So now I have decided to buy separate wellies for mucky jobs, and some nice long boots for riding. Provided I can find some to suit my short, sturdy legs...

I looked at the snowy river boots, but ended up opting to buy a pair of their winter high rider boots. They are amazing! They are so warm & you could trampse through muddy fields, muck out etc then quick hose down and mount up to ride. I didn't notice any difference in the security of my leg position riding the horses in these compared to normal boots. They seem proper multipurpose winter boots, unfortunately I didn't get to trial mine out properly as I ended up only wearing them twice, the downside to the boots for me was simply that they only come in full sizes and I thought I would be ok (size 5 1/2 feet) but they are just too big for me so mine are being ebayed :(.

Can I ask what made you go for these instead of the Snowy Rivers?

If I remember rightly for me it was mostly the calf height, high rider are taller. I also like that they are non leather for a winter multipurpose boot, easier to clean and care for. Oh and the other big one - they're cheaper! I adore my Ariat winter bromonts, cosy feet and fab for riding in and the snowy boots are only £30 or so cheaper, so I thought might as well try a cheaper alternative or stick with trusty bromonts (though they are less of a yard boot).
