So after trying....

De Niro s3312 £290 boots - too short

Ariat Bromont - too short and too wide

Brogini - Too wide

I have managed to find the Mountain Horse Supreme High Rider!!!

I looked on the website and in the long narrow combination it's -

Size 40-41 not sure on fit yet
51cm height - perfect !!!!!!
34-37 calf in the 41
32-35 in the 40

So what are they like?

They will be kept for competition and 1 lesson a week that is in a school not mud

Also when it says 34-37 calf I am a 34 so may they be a little wide? as surely 3cm is a lot of difference!!

I'm a 51 height so they are perfect in that way too!!

They look very neat on the foot too which is good as I have skinny ankles!!

How long do they take to Break in??

I'm going to ring my tack shop today to get me some in to try and hopefully they should fit!!

Thanks in advance !!!

I have a pair which I LOVE in looks, comfort etc, but they have had to have zips replaced 2x, and a popper thing put on the top to stop the zip coming down...

However, I am still using them instead of my very ££ Broginis as they are SO comfortable...!!

5yrs, but started having problems within 6months... but still do like them as boots, just be prepared to have to spend some money on them :) Mine aren't the laced ones though, so may be different to the ones you're looking at!

Ha, that's my pic! They're the best boots I've ever had by a country mile. Beat the really expensive ones hands down. Comfy from the first wear, gorgeous soft leather and much admired.

Have also had zip problems and mine were hardly used - competitions only. Would never buy mountain horse boots again too expensive to maintain and unreliable zips go at worst moment (just when entering class!) have also had the normal high rider boots which were just as bad

I have these MH boots which I use for everyday - they are the most comfy thing I have ever put on my foot. I will admit, the zip on one has broken once and I have had it replaced and it is fine. I just got our local cobbler to do it, and it is a slightly differnt zip but the difference is really minimal. But mine are pretty used and abused!

The leather is so soft it wont take you any real time to break them in.

ETA: I have a comletely different problem to fit than you lovely tall skinny lot! But MH do a wonderfully wide range of fits. I am not overtly tall, but have a long lower leg and a wide fit calf. I can always find the calf size to fit in a short but NEVER a reg/long!! Apparently the only people with legs as fat as mine are hobbits!! Boot fitting can be such a disheartening experience, so I wish you well on your quest :)

Zxp -

They sound very comfy!!

How much did it cost to get zip replaced ???

I'm going to be zipping them up very carefully I think!

How did it break ?? Did it get stuck?

Thanks :)

This might doom me now - but I've never had the zips go on mountain horse boots, only Toggi's

I have the supreme high rider and do like them, you get lots of feel and they look lovely. However they are made for the heels down position, so I find if I walk anywhere in them they rub the back of my heel (but very comfy riding).

I wouldn't use them if I thought I was going to have to walk anywhere far!!

Thanks Jen_cots

When I was buying Dublin river boots everyone told me not to die to the lining breaking but they are fine!

When I use them I will only have to walk from Trailer to indoor school (50metres)

And my other lesson from trailer to school which is about 10 metres!

So should be ok

I always ride in thickish socks anyway but only time I will have to walk far is course walking but I can wear my river boots for that !

Err, off the top of my head the zip replacement cost £20 for one or £30 for two (I only needed one doing).

And yes, they arent the most comfortable thing to walk in - but devine on the horse!

Love love love mine - have had them since they first came out so probably 6years maybe more - never had a minutes problem with them - they even survived me putting quite a bit of weight on without becoming uncomfy and never had an issue with the zips. They still come up like new - have only ever used them for comps and the odd lesson and don't always clean them (bad I know)
Can walk around in them all day without a problem too never had a rub even with thin socks.
Honestly cant recommend them enough
I have the sportive for every day too which are now ancient probably nearly 10years old and the leather is a bit faded but still really comfy and pretty watertight and have never ever cleaned them apart from with the hosepipe when really muddy.
Love MH boots can you tell!x

Sorry, not been back on line for a couple of days, so missed your question but have spotted yr other post about Bogini boots, so am guessing it's a null and void question now anyway.

unfortunately when my local tack shop rang MH for me, apparently all the long narrow stock that are in UK are spoken for, and I wouldnt be able to get a pair until Spring/Summer 2012:eek:

they said if any tack shops stocked them i might be able to get some but no tack shops stock the long narrow as they are an unusual size..

The only other place that do my size are brogini so my tack shop rang them after MH and gave them my measurements and they said they had some in so i am getting those instead.

Quite annoyed but I like the Brogini as well so not too bothered they are both lovely boots!

So after the Brogini's not fitting,

If I want Brogini I have to go made to measure which I have been quoted £400 for .....

I am back to these....

What are they like foot wise? Generous or not?

My Brogini were 6.5 and I was wondering whether I could get away with 6 in these as calf measurements are better

Also are the calf measurements generous

For my size in long narrow it says 34-37

I am a 33-34 Calf so would they be too wide??
Thanks

Yeah, do that, good idea! All I can tell you is that I have very skinny calves and the super skinny ones didn't fit me, so unless you truely have matchstick calves, get the regular.

That's good to know :)

In the Brogini I'm 13" / 33cm

The narrow is 34-37 in my footsize so I was wondering if they would be too big however by the sounds of it they won't be!

I assumes from your pic your were long narrow, if yours are regular how skinny are the narrow!

The ones in the pic are the narrow yes but I took them back and got the regular.

Argh right ok :)

Well mountain horse just told me that they aren't making long narrow as hardly anyone needs that size

She said there will be shops with them in stock and she rang one she knew of but they didn't have them
So I have found a shop with them on Internet so getting them from there

I HAVE FOUND A PAIR !!!!

I have actually managed to find a pair of long narrow supreme high riders!!!

I rang round literally every store who stocked the boots and eventually found a pair from the tack shack!!

They are a size 6 and I had a 6.5 Brogini so hopefully they will be ok they said I can get them stretched if needs be

They are coming on Wednesday but Im on holiday in Wales till 14th so can't get them till then :/

I was so lucky to get some as mountain horse have stopped sending long narrow to UK as no one buys them!
They have discontinued them over here!

Hopefully they fit

They are 51 height (perfect)!
And 32-35 calf I'm a 33-34 so should he perfect!

Can anyone tell me how long they take to break in? The backs of my heels are very sore!!!

Havent ridden In them yet, having a lesson tommorow

I got the long narrow in a 6 so 32-35 calf

I'm a 33 calf - I'm Glad my calfs are not any wider It took me hours to get the zip up! They are perfect height wise though

I can't see a 35 calf getting into them!

I'm a 33 with jodhpurs and am now considering breeches to save space!
