Hi all,

With both my birthday and Christmas coming up, my lovely boyfriend has offered to buy me a new pair of boots. So far, I love the Mountain Horse Sovereign Field Boot and the Ariat Heritage Ellipse. Does anyone have any comments, good or bad, on these? My main concern is longevity, followed by comfort, fit and general gorgeousness. I am tall so will need a long length fitting I think. I have had boots from both brands before which have been great, but I do remember (long long ago) a problem with MH zips breaking rather easily. Anyway, if anyone has any advice it would be gratefully received!

ETA: I intend to use them for general schooling/hacking and possibly a little unaff dressage.

I had a beautiful pair of Mountain Horse Supreme High Riders. I loved them and they fitted my legs perfectly (struggled with other brands due to being tall...). However the seams started to go within 18 months (along the toe). I tried contacting MH about it as I felt this was a serious design flaw and I expected much more wear out of them (especially for how much I paid for them!). Their customer service was horrendous frankly and it really put me off them. I wouldn't buy another MH boots again because of it. I now have a lovely pair of Ariat Heritage Contour Field Boots which I am very happy with.

I've got MH short boots and had them for almost 10 years now & they haven't been particularly well looked after! I find them comfortable & based on their longivity would definitely buy again :)

I have had my current mountain horse high riders for 4 years and only replaced the zips once on each boot and they look perfect no splitting, I ride at least 1 horse a day but I only ride in them so change to do mucking out and other jobs and I think using them just to ride does make them last longer.

Mountain Horse Sovereigns!!! I LOVE mine!!! I tried a couple of Ariat long smart ones (can't remember which sorry) but much preferred the look of the Sovereigns. They are so soft and smart and a bit different. I wear them all the time and for competition. Go for these, love them!!!
