Hi,

Has anyone bought the Mountain Horse Supreme long riding boots?

I have had mine for a couple of months and they have worn so quickly- it is shocking. I thought for over £200 they would be of much better quality. Also, I contacted Mountain Horse directly to express my disappointment in the product and received an incredibly rude reply. This is a Company I have always liked with products that I have always bought- it is a shame that this experience has changed this :(

..do you mind sharing their reply ? :) I really like mountain horse .. am disapointed if they have been rude :( x

I bought some Mountain Horse long boots for winter. They had a rear zip, which broke after less than three months.

Won't buy anything from them again.

I have the Supremes and they are fine,no probs but I don't wear them every day. Use the mostly in summer(what summer?!?),as I live in my Ariat bromonts the rest of the time. Sorry, not that helpful as I guess mine haven't had hard wear but they look fine. You pay more for the lovely soft leather(as with most footwear),which unfortunately,is not going to be as hard wearing as thicker stuff.

That's disappointing.
I don't have the Supreme's, but daughter and I have another style of their long boot that have been going strong for years, even with daughters inability to ever treat hers to a polish.

Bad customer service is unforgivable though.

I agree that they should not have been rude, I am very surprised as they are a lovely bunch up there.
Under consumer law however, the OP should have contacted the retailer first, as her contract is with them, not MH direct.
If OP was just ringing them to express her disappointment tho, then they should have been more helpful.
The Supremes are a very soft leather tho & will not last if used for everyday:((
Did you just use them for comps?

The Sale of Goods Act applies to all manufacturers. Return the goods as being at fault, and keep doing it until they either get there act together, or go out of business. The first port of call will be the shop from whom you bought them.

We are too quick to accept second best these days!

Alec.

That does surprise me, I've had my high riders for about 6 years and really abused them and they're still going strong and polish up a treat.

I expect that is what they told the OP. I used to work in a saddlery that stocked Mountatin Horse and they were VERY particular about how to return and what you had to send the boots back WITH in terms of proof of purchase too. But if the wrote that rudely it is out of order.

The Supreme is gorgeous but it is a top of the range competition boot - I wouldn't think it would stand heavy use because the leather is so soft. It is defo for sunday best. Like some of the others I can't believe Mountain Horse were rude because they have always been so helpful whenever I have had a query or needed a problem sorting out. May I ask was the "rude" reply a written one or a verbal one, because it is really easy to misinterpret the written word, especially if you are cross about a prob already. Just sayin....

I sent an e-mail a few weeks ago to MH, as I was looking for advice on boots which had burst, but were out of guarantee. As I had only worn them for a couple of months I wanted to find out if these particular boots had a design fault, or if it was just my bad luck. Within half an hour I had a phone call from a lady called Antonia, who said there was a problem with my e-mail, so she was phoning instead! She was very helpful, but unfortunately there wasn't a lot she could do because of the time scale. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the service I received, and although I didn't the answer I would have liked, I was dealt with very politely.:)

I think alot of the time you are paying for the 'name' I bought some boots from MH years ago, and still have them, why because they are just horrible and I never wear them, so will not be doing that again ;)

^^^^ I bought the High Riders about 4 or so years ago. I really should eBay them,as I hate them-horrible,clumpy,heavy boots. (I do know some people like them tho!) However, the Supremes are completely different(granted, they are not sposed to be the durable boot the High Rider is) and I really like them:) Riding in the High Riders felt like riding in wellies-cumbersome,heavy,no real 'feel' of the contact with the horse:-/

I like the mountain horse long boots but after having 3 pairs that never lasted longer than a year (the zip would always break!) I have given up on them as they are too expensive to buy a new pair each year! :(

I've had my Mountain Horse Sportives (less clumpy than the high rider but still a sturdy everyday boot) for nearly 7 years and they are still going strong despite not being particularly careful with them. They have had the zips repaired a couple of times and I think one zip has been replaced but I love them.
