Mounted games

Prince Phillip Cup (PPC) is part of Pony Club. It is VERY competitive, although not every branch does it.

Contact some of your local branches maybe to put the feelers out. The good ponies don't tend to ever really be advertised, just passed around. Or advertise the pony on the PC website and big up the PPC games part of the ad.

Pony Club goes up to 15 years old, opportunities to represent GB, England, and compete at HOYS etc as well as competitions week in week out.

Or

MGA (the mounted games association) is for any age riders, said to be a little more dangerous than PC, because they do "flying" hand ins, have numerous opportunities too.

Both are very competitive, and like Galaxy23 says, the ponies are like Gold dust. It can be quite b*tchy, and if you do buy a pony, ask for as many references as possible, so many first timers in the PC games have ended up with ponies (from the MGA) that were not as they were described, a friend is currently going through a court with hers, so just beware. If you get the right one though, they're brilliant.

My sister does both at the moment, and has enjoyed the luxury of both an England ride and HOYS, and I wish I had done it when I was able to. Alotta Fun, if you have any questions or anything I can ask her. :)

Hope this helps.

My daughter is thoroughly enjoying mounted games, she's in our pony Club team and although we are doing it primarily for the fun, experience and confidence it is giving our kids, they are all doing well and have just qualified at Areas. None of us have posh ponies but we have a really keen and dedicated trainer and I suppose the kids are not old enough or we have not been around long enough to experience any bitchiness, we have been to a couple of mga pairs competitions as well have found both them and Pony Club very welcoming and great fun. I wish I'd had the chance when I was her age! Good luck, I hope you enjoy it as well!

oooooh I did Prince Phillip Cup, went to the areas with my PC. We were a bit **** though.. I had a rubbish pony who wasnt fast enough. Yes v v competative! We used to train every week.

my first pony was a mounted games pony he was awesome! a hand me down from my sister!

my sister did it years ago when she was a kid, and my dad trained some team (way before my time so i dont know the ins and outs!). they went to wembley several times and she absolutely loved it.
they were forever training though, getting up before school to swim and all sorts and not allowed to get too fat! the ponies were owned by the team and were 'matched' to the riders, and no parents were allowed anywhere near the decision making processes as they were a pain the backside!
