Can anybody suggest a place to buy a decent sized portable mounting block from. Ideally it would be 2'6" high. Have seen one on ebay but the postage was £40!! Or are there any good suggestions of improvisation.........It would need to be sturdy enough to sit on uneven grass.

I bought one of those ladder/tressle things. Just the right height but too shiny and horsey wont go near it.

I know what you mean!! we have one on the yard but then need to go through a very very awkward gate so another block would be ideal at the bottom of the drive

I use a set of wooden 'steps'/ stepping stool from Ikea. It cost under a tenner I think, and is ideal for me. It has one step and a good sozed top to stand on. Because it's small you can move it, so good for fidgetty horses, and I can take it on the lorry. I'm 5'2 and big lad is 16'2.
