Can anybody suggest a place to buy a decent sized portable mounting block from. Ideally it would be 2'6" high. Have seen one on ebay but the postage was £40!! Or are there any good suggestions of improvisation.........It would need to be sturdy enough to sit on uneven grass.

I bought one of those ladder/tressle things. Just the right height but too shiny and horsey wont go near it.

But we'll work at it

I know what you mean!! we have one on the yard but then need to go through a very very awkward gate so another block would be ideal at the bottom of the drive

yard owner would not take to me building stuff on their property, dad is a builder so would be very easy to get sorted as well so gutting...............where on earth do you get those blue barrels though??

I have fold up steps i got from B & Q, go everywere with me and even fold up into the lorry! people laugh at me but amazing the amount of folk that borrow! even good to sit on when watching!!!

we have a big metal mounting block attatched to a wall, but half the horses wont go near it

so they use the picnic table bench

I use a set of wooden 'steps'/ stepping stool from Ikea. It cost under a tenner I think, and is ideal for me. It has one step and a good sozed top to stand on. Because it's small you can move it, so good for fidgetty horses, and I can take it on the lorry. I'm 5'2 and big lad is 16'2.
