I’ve just part-ex my very old Ifor Williams 510 for a brand spanking new Ifor Williams HBX511. Very exciting 🤩

Looking for suggestions for mounting my rather tall horse when out & about. I currently trailer out to new places with my friend on her 15hh who uses my little fold up step to mount (I then fold this up & lock in the back of my car with the two head collars) and I get on from the metal plate just before my wheel arch.

I obviously can’t stand on my brand new trailer (the hubbie would throttle me 😂) and I can’t use the fold up step as I couldn’t reach down to pick it up to put in my car.

Any lightbulb 💡 suggestions?

My daughter uses a 25gallon water container as a mounting block when she takes her trailer out. Its very old, and if it gets nicked its not the end of the world. It's always been by the trailer where she left it after mounting.

I’ve been looking at these, and the price 🙈

It might have to be my birthday present in March 🙌
I didnt get that brand, i got a trailer repair guy to use an old lorry step. was only 25 quid total!

there are also these price range ones

I looked at the step mate but the integrity of the ramp is compromised drilling into it, mine is onto the metal not the actual ramp 🥰 plus Id have needed to have put it pretty far up for my midget legs 🤣

Ask your local farmer if he has any big plastic rubs lying around. My ones have loads of them - big round very solid plastic ones which I think had cattle licks in originally, usually they'll give you them for free as they just seem to lie around their fields/farms otherwise. I just chuck it in the trailer and use it as storage, then when needed I upend it and use as a mounting block. If someone really wanted to nick it then its really not a big issue. Nobodys bothered so far!

WOW - what an amazing husband you have!
People literally have no idea, I do 🤣 he has just built a full stable for the lady who owns the estate, it was a pile of junk and had been sitting for 15 years, he welded and worked so hard on it.

Sorry OP not trying to derail 🥰

Maybe you can attach a (telescope) stick to the step so that you can reach it from the saddle? Make sure to not spook your horse though.
