My horse sustained a mouth cut from the bit from very briefly being tied up, he pulled back as he spooked split the bridle but the string didn’t break cutting his mouth in the process. (I know not to tie a horse by the bit up I did it for 30 seconds to grab something and won’t make the mistake again!)
Just wondering how long people would wait to bit him again cut is pretty superficial and he’s eating normally but haven’t dealt with a mouth injury before so wondered if people had similar experience and what they did, attached photo of said mouth this was taken two days after it happened.

thank you

You can get some stuff called Orabase from the chemist which is like a sealant for mouth ulcers. Might work to form a protective covering whilst cut heals.

The mouth tends to heal fairly quickly without any intervention, I would slosh a little salty water in there, be careful in case it stings, then give a small amount in his feed each day keeping an eye on it but I wouldn't be that concerned as he is eating well, it looks as if he may have just caught himself with his teeth rather than a bit injury as such.

Ok will try salty water and I’m checking it everyday he seems fine as I said eating like normal etc any idea as to how long I should wait to bit him? It’s a bit further down so could be from teeth rather than bit but I didn’t want to agrivate it or cause any discomfort for him by bitting him

I don't think a bit should interfere with it, if he is unconcerned about you touching it I would probably put the bridle on and if it is not anywhere near making contact then get on and ride but be sensible just in case he is bothered, some will totally ignore a bit of discomfort others will make a drama out of any minor issue, if he is the latter type maybe leave it a couple more days.
