mouth ulcer?

My horse has what looks like a couple of ulcers on his bottom lip - where it touches his top lip and one on the end of his tongue, has anyone come across this before? They don't seem to be bothering him? The dentist is coming next week so will discuss them with her but they are not actually near his teath - unless he has bitten himself!

Do you have alot of buttercups?

we have some, could that be the cause? I would say its more dockens and thistles but there are defo some buttercups!

what do they look like? my mare has one inside her bottom lip, a brown roughened circle about 5mm across. no buttercups at all in my fields. just wondered if the 'ulcer' looks similar to yours.

sounds similar just he has two beside each other. I'll try to get a picture of it tonight.

Do you have any St John's wort in the field, this can cause photosensitivity.

My ex-YO's horse had something similar last year, never got to the bottom of it though we found some information that a burden of some particular kind of worm had similar reaction (sorry can't remember which type). They never caused any problem and went away.
