I'll be doing the same next year and I am a novice like you. To be honest if you are having to ask these types of questions on a forum you are not experienced enough to do it yourself. Like I say I am the same and I wont be attempting it myself.
I will be getting my Intelligent horsemanship trainer to pay some visits to show me how to go on. That way it will be done correctly and me and ponio will both learn at the same time. for the sake of a few quid I would rather have it done correctly from the off than try and do it myself and risk ruining my horse before I even get him started.
