My 2 year old has always had excellent feet, concave sole and happy over any surface, even flinty tracks. We've moved yards and now his soles are totally flat. Still rock crunching and sound as a pound, but obviously something has changed to cause this. He gets Pure Fibre Balance with extra magnesium, out 24/7. His feet also seem to be growing faster and cracking slightly at the bottom. I guess it is diet related - what could it be?

Could easily be mineral imbalance in the new grass. Excess iron and manganese or deficiency of copper (also created by excess iron and manganese) can produce that result quite quickly because it disrupts insulin regulation.

Could be higher sugar levels in the new grazing too.

Can also be caused by stress hormones, it could just be the move.

Worth doing anything about ATM? I can't really get a forage analysis done as hay this winter will be from different sources. Since he's sound and still rock crunching should I ignore it or try supplementing copper?

Personally Zoon I would wait until the grass dies as long as he is comfortable. It should only be a month now and little harm should come to him in that time. Then if the flat soles continue, I would supplement copper to a safe level because it's coming out in analyses as the commonest problem. For your youngster that would be around 2 grms of copper bioplex from Forageplus, which will deliver 200mg of copper. Measure carefully, do not overdose, it is poisonous in excess (though that level is well within a safety margin).
