I've just started my 20 year old retired mare on this as noticed she was more stiff than usual having her feet trimmed on Sat - she's also got a little grumpy having one front foot picked (but ok if I dont expect her to raise it for very long). No obvious knocks, heat or swelling and her feet are in good shape - she also still seems to enjoy a daily roll in the mud. I've got the vet coming out to do a pre winter MOT anyway but would prefer to have her on something natural and not bute for any stiffness (particualrly if it is just wear and tear and needed long term). Ive read a lot about boswellia serrata (the active ingredient in this) and it seems much better than devils claw - for the system and therefore also long term use.

Anyone have good experiences or suggest feeding boswellia serrata pure? Also any suggestions how to get my mare, who isnt normally a fussy eater but turns up her nose at this in her breakfast to eat it. She has a handful of chaff just to get her supplements (she's a retired good does so doesnt need hard feed) and ive tried home made apple sauce and peppermint essence (the latter seems to help but she's still not happy and if she's too slow to eat it my younger bossy mare tries to help herself to it!).
