I am going to be moving yards, hopefully within the next month or so.

Obviously Bloss is going to be coming up to around 9/10months pregnant by this time. The move unfortunately has to happen.

Im really worried that its going to upset her? Can anyone make me feel better

This move is going to be for the better, especially for Bloss and mini-Bloss - she settles well in new places, and when i used to stay away competing with her she was always very chilled out about it. Im just worried about travelling her?

Gosh, I can't believe there are only 2 months left for your Blossy to foal!
Unfortunately I cannot offer any piece of mind - I would be worried stiff about transporting a mare so close to her due date...If possible, I would ratehr transport her now rather than in a month time.
I am sure some 'breeding peeps' will reply.

All the best - can't wait for the pictures

its not possible to move her now as there is no space at the yard shes going to - i have to wait for there to be space for my two before i can more. The new YO thinks there will be room by the end of february

Move her as soon as you can.

Though we were advised that anything up to a week before due date is fine by a large tb stud, when we lost the baby after moving her three weeks before her due date we couldnt help but wander....

Where are you moving them to?

Hurstbourne hopefully - going over there on Sunday. Anne has 2 horses for sale and once they have gone i can have the 2 stables.

Any info good or bad? PM me if you prefer

Bloss will be moved as soon as there is space as shes my main priority over Archie.

Don't even worry about it... I know so many people who take their mares to stud about 2-3 weeks before they are due to foal, so how is that any different?

TB mares will travel from here to Ireland and mainland Europe and vice versa, between 9 and 10 months of pregnancy! Generally without any problems! I know some travel 2 weeks before their due date, as where a friend is working in Newmarket atm, she has 3 mares, all due between 28th Jan and 1st Feb, that are still in isolation, before they are allowed down to the foaling barn - one is a maiden and has wax!! bloody annoys me when people don't ship early enough!!

So going by that, Bloss will be fine! Also, B is now moving into her 9th month and I will be moving her soon - not sure where to, as haven't found anywhere definite yet, but I do need to move yards, so that they are closer to me. I'm not worried at all.

Hope that helps you some hun.

You're welcome! It's only natural to worry, esp. with a change of environment, but she should be fine. Good luck with the move - I'm not looking forward to packing all my horsey kit up and moving it.......

i had to move my mare in dec 07 and she is due april 5th. i was worried sick as she is in foal and has had a couple of panic attacks when travelling (we had to have the police out once when she destroyed the back of the horse box. ) i used a transporter that was very comfy and full of luxury for her and she travelled like an angel. don't worry i am sure it will be fine.

We moved our TB to a new yard 4 weeks before she was due and it was fine... she only went 3 more weeks as it happens but no problems at all... mind you she had Asti with her still so that helped - but she should be OK if you can manage to leave a clear couple of weeks for her to settle before she's due - and to get her stable "Blossed" with her own scents etc!

i was worried and cried with relief at the other end she came of looking for the grass as she had missed a mornings grazing.
p.s. good luck with the foal. this is my first so very excited

this is my first and strawbs had one when she was 3yo in holland. i am so excited worse than when i had my own children. i have chosen a stallion called freshman b who is at lockyer stud near me. he is flemming/sandro lines my strawbs is calvado/ alme z lines. he was 16.3 and so is she so i am thinking BIG foal. i am thinking of names now!!!! are you hoping for a filly or colt?

that a lovely name. if mine is a colt i was going to call him samson. for a filly i was thinking something really pretty like you have chosen. good luck and look forward to the pics. i have my video camera charged ready.

Last year I had a phone call from a lady who's mare was close to foaling and would I go and have a look at her. They then showed me where she would be foaling - field with barbed wire or an old dairy building with a channel down the middle of it - not ideal. They then started to panic and asked if she could come to me for foaling.
We moved the mare - only 2 miles - in the lorry. She foaled that night.
All was well with both mare and foal - mare settled immediately with us - she had been to us before for covering.
So although this wasn't ideal it is possible and moving your mare more than a month before she is due shouldn't be a problem.
