I currently have free livery on my parents land which has been great whilst Ive been getting my business up and running, however I cant hack, theres no facilities, but it is nice to be the only one and not have any hassle and at the same time I feel quite lonely , I know yards can be bitchy but I really miss having people to hack and talk with

I have a little companion pony as well and tbh they dont get on that well, my horse bullies her and shes constantly running off or hiding, apart from when he had a tendon injury over winter and took full advatange of giving it back lol

Anyway, my thought was to move him to a yard with facilities and leave her there, but I couldnt leave her on her own, Im not really in a position to purchase a third, and my parents dont want an unknown livery so I did wonder if I could offer retirement livery to someone or ...... not sure., what would you do?

I have held back and left it but im not enjoying my hobby, hardly riding, and I feel a change should be made to make things better. I feel quite bad for being so indecisive but i think its because ive had pony 15 years and I certainly couldnt sell and dont really want to loan as shes never been ridden.

Tricky!

By having a livery there it would provide them with some income. Would they be willing to allow someone if they were a friend of yours?

Other option - instead of buying a third horse for your companion, what about a sheep or something? That way she won't get bullied and won't be alone!

Didnt actually think of something other than a horse companion, do ponies like sheep?

I did hear they can suffer from foot rot and other ailments but, I dont really know anyone with a horse needing livery hence wondering if someone had something that needed retiring and I would be happy to look after it.

What about advertising for a small companion pony? I know one thats possibly coming up for loan but not till summer, ill keep my ear open and will let you know if i hear of anything.

thanks, I think Im just concerned about paying for 3 specially with one then going into livery. But I would be happier knowing Ann has company, she loves mares so something that needed restricted grazing like her would do well. I also then have think about splitting my time between 2 places, I know a few people who do it and they find it tiring.
