I decided to move my mare closer to me, nothing major about it or anything but I feel guilty about the whole thing.
I start my new job on Monday it is a 9 hour shift from 8am to 5pm, no doubt the rest of the week will reflect the Monday schedule since we are stocking the entire store.
I pay 200 a month for board
Pro List
A stall
Worming
Daily turn out
My choice of feed providing my BO can buy it at the feed store she goes to.
Use of the "arena" really about the size of a long round pen. Enough room to walk and trot comfortably, a bit of a squeeze for a canter
Use of whatever props are floating around the place
Hay, approx 3-4 flakes each when they are stalled
A single trail on approximatly 10 acres in the back
Cons list
The tack room is open to the rest of the barn, so the cats can come and go as they please, dusty etc.
Cats peed on my saddle
Dog can be a pest, thinks its fun to chase or pace Poco when im trying to longe her
Dog drops rocks everywhere
No rest room to use, I have to use a stall or go knock on the door and hope someone is there.
FB who lacks some fundamentals of common sense, really nice but lacks fundamentals.
It can be lonely
"Arena" isnt fully covered in sand
Costs about $10-$15 a trip including toll bridge costs.
The trail has alot of under growth, have yet to see any trail clearing that was promised a couple months ago.
This place Im considering i turned down originally for only a couple reasons, i figured we would have moved in a couple months and it would have been closer to be at the place i am now
his place is $200 a month and is about 20-30 minutes depending on how you drive
Pro list
Straight pasture board w/ run in shed 5-12 acres with only 2 other horses in each
not 1 but 2 tack rooms
a standard dressage arena, low PVC piping for a "fence" considerably larger than my current "arena"
A jumping area
Round pen
Hot walker
Loads of trails on and off property
Smaller boarding place but larger than where im at now
a rest room
an actual area to wash your horse
Occasional shows there that i could use to desensative Poco to.
A place where i can microwave something to eat and wash my hands
Con List
I have to drive on an interstate, not bad during non rush hour traffic but during it can be a nightmare
No guarentee I can see Poco more
I supply my own feed and worming
I just feel guilty, like comparing it to a guy leaving his girlfriend for someone prettier or something....
