Live in Inverness and may have to move back to Bucks. My cob came up here from Bucks 4 years ago, travelled well. Now he is 23 and has had laminitis three years ago, pedal rotation, but not had it since. He has never been in a lorry since his last move. How do you think he would cope with the journey? I would use Eric Gillie, they are great.

If cob is otherwise hale and hearty I can't see a problem especially with using a professional team; only thing is the length of journey so I don't know how bute and laminitis go together but you could always give him one before his journey and another for a couple of days after he has landed to take off any stiffness due to his age. I also wouldn't bandage/boot for that long journey, they could be more of a hazard than a benefit.

I am sure he will cope with the journey, may be stiff for a couple of days after. If the driver is considerate you cant really do much more for him.

Good luck

Just to say that if he'll cope with it I'd boot him to get him on and definitely off the lorry - at least put knee pads on to come off the lorry.

Our oldest boy does find that he's a bit stiff after a long journey and that walk down the ramp can be a bit scary for his mum! I'm always pleased he has his boots on after he fell offthe ramp one time.

Hope the journey goes smoothly.

I would just take all relevant precautions, such as good transporters (which you are) and make sure you give some extra supplementation for his body to cope better, like some electrolytes, magnesium is very important for lammi prones so a good supplement with some vits and minerals should help the body cope on the inside,am sure it will go fine, best of luck
