I've posted previously about some of the issues I've had at the yard I'm on, including (but not limited to!) YO giving my stable to infectious horses without telling me (and then trying to charge me for it

), not maintaining facilities, ranting at myself and other liveries when we ask for anything to be done, none stop bitching with the liveries and YO's .....etc etc.

Anyway, I have finally decided to cut my losses and move. I've been having a major dilemna about it as I have a 7 week old baby and issues getting someone I trust to look after him whilst I spend some time with Baz. There are also no decent yards for miles (this yard was 8 miles away). I have now made arrangements to move him to a friend's house at the village where I grew up, which is 15 miles away, but on the up side my mum lives 100 yards away and will look after my baby while I get some riding done

. It is essentially just a field and stable but there is plenty of good grazing, automatic water, own hay and straw....and its half the price

. My best friend also lives in the village and will be able to look after Baz if ever I can't get down. My friend who owns the field has also offered me the use of her show jumps (her horse died a couple of years ago and they are sitting in a shed). I also have three show venues within a couple of miles hack so it'll be just the t'old days

Baz's new field mates are two fab donkeys who have come from a rescue centre and are real characters - not quite sure what my snobby TB will make of those

I know its lots further away and I will be leaving some fab people (and some not quite so fab

) but I am so happy now I've made the decision. The facilities may not be all I have on the big yard at the moment (when they are maintained) but after all the issues I've had its such a relief to be going.

Please someone, have a glass of fizzy plonk with me to celebrate moving on.....bottoms up!!

Hope it all goes well - although its further, it sounds like its worth it. Bitchy yards (or Yo's) can be a nightmare and at the end of the day we have horses for fun, there's nothing worse than dreading going to the yard when all you want to do is enjoy the time you've got with your horse. I had this once (a while ago) and moving was the best thing I ever did!

Good luck

Sounds brilliant, be careful though , donkeys grow on you!!

I'll have a glass of whatever you are drinking thanks

Has your horse met donkeys before? Just be warned, some horses find them terrifying! Others become completely obsessed with them! Lol

Haha, well just be warned - for some reason some horses seem to see them as some sort of aliens! Still once they get to know the donkeys they then seem to love them!

I think horses sense donkeys have this higher intelligence!

my boss bought a french bred donkey early last year ,and i turned it out in a paddock with the show pony, next to our eventers ...jesus christ ,they were horrified !!

over the period of a month ,i gradually introduced them ,and now they all get turned out together ....they are sometimes rather annoyed when the beast starts braying but apart from that ,they all love her now.....5 geldings and one donkey filly !!
