Moving on from raw...

At present Freddie is on a raw diet & seems incredibly happy & healthy on it -Sprocker going on nine, acting two! However next year OH & I are retiring & going travelling, obs Freddie comes too; we'll probably start in France & then meander round the UK, so I won't have room for a month or so's worth of frozen dog food in the caravan & need to consider what I could move him on to, would anyone suggest some of the freeze dried foods I've seen advertised, or would you just move him onto a dry food - our last spaniel was on James well beloved & only a month short of her 15th birthday when she passed away

If I'm not feeding raw temporarily I generally just use trays or tins rather than kibble

I would try trays/tins also. Particularly when travelling as it helps with hydration IMO.

I use Fresco dry raw when i'm away with the beasts. Its expensive but you only need a little amount so it lasts!

Forthglade and Wainright's grain free wet trays are what we use for our raw-fed dogs when away from freezer space!

I agree about feeding a wet food I use Forthglade trays, I used to feed raw but found my dog put on too much weight and was getting a miniscule amount so I felt a bit mean so switched to forthglade and she is a healthy weight.

I feed half/half but if travelling I’d use tins/trays in place of the raw.

I would also agree with tins/trays. I could be wrong but I think Nature's Variety do freeze dried dog food (they definitely do freeze dried treats).

You can't take meat based products into France/Europe, even dog food, so will have to purchase there.

Another vote for Forthglade, we use the Just Range of wet food and Orijen kibble as one of ours is itchy on other dog foods.

When we are away from home I use Forthglade. Mine is on raw at home. She switches no problem.

Looks good, I've been sorting out my pension this week, so after a tough couple of years I'm looking forward to some better times ahead: the current plan looks like: March/ April head down south to see the boys, then meander off to France, stay until it gets too hot (brother lives in Loire valley) head back to UK, maybe Glen brittle bay on Isle of Skye followed by a summer of horse & motor events, possibly head back to our bungalow in Norfolk when the weather get too cold, 2023 repeat
