We are possibly moving (arrgh) but there are no stables on the farm. We have timber stables at home which are only about 2 years old, so ideally I would like to be able to take them with me. Has anyone done this before? Does it work? And how much does it cost? I emailed the company who I bought them off but they were only interested in quoting me for new stables!

I got two stables and a tack room free for the taking. The fun part was that they were at the bottom of a steep bank with no vehicular access! These were old but the timber was mostly in good condition. I found it was built in sections bolted together so I removed the roof (box section screwed on with special hexagonal headed screws), then unbolted each section and dragged them up the slope, one at a time, with a long rope with the quad on level ground. I loaded them onto my 8'x5' Ifor Williams trailer single handed and took them home behind the Landrover. Some sections were too large so I simply cut the top and bottom rails with a chain saw and replaced them when I erected the stable. The whole job was done single handed by myself. Did I mention that I'm over 70 with a dodgy back? If I can do it, anyone can.

You can see most of the story here:

you want a company with a huge flat bed trailer or truck, cost is down to distance to drive to you and to the new place. Get quotes and ring round, they will vary then you need to advertiser locally for someone to erect them. I just had the base down for my pens and needed 3 trio of cat pens erected. I advertised and someone applied for the job.

I also called a moving company with hugeeeeeeeeeeeee sides if they would be interested in moving my two field shelters when i brought them up to my place, that is another option a removals company with a truck like this>>>http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COL-PHOTO...ts_Vehicles_Automobila_ET&hash=item5d4e72d402

speak to your removals company as they might be interested

They're often nailed together with power guns so that can make them more difficult to take down with more modern ones. We asked them to bolt our stables together when we got them. They weren't happy as it took longer, but they did.
