I'm going to be moving myself and my horse to a new area soon and it's quite daunting!

I've added threads on here for suggestions for livery, vets and a farrier but does anyone have any general advice for moving to a new place please?

I'll only know my boyfriend and his friends (who are lovely but not horsey) but I'm not worrying about myself, just hope my horse is ok!

I took my horse to a busy livery yard when I moved here (well, busy for here!) so I could meet people, and they recommended farriers and vets etc. I also joined the local riding club. You will get to know plenty of people eventually. I have been here 8 years and I'm still a newcomer though...

I did this in almost exact same circumstances (moved in with BF and only knew him), and my only advice is not to worry too much!

Horses are great at bringing people together! If you find a nice livery yard and are open, friendly and chatty you will soon make friends!

I moved about 60 miles, to a new place where I knew know one. I am at a tiny place I share rent with just 2 other ladies, but over the past nearly 2 years since I've been here I've become good friends with both of them. I think the horses helped me settle in better as they were round the corner and still there when I felt homesick. the move was great for me and the horses, as I have a brilliant job and now they are only 2 miles away instead of 20 (I used to live with my parents in west London)

it will be scary, but sure it will all work out. just give them time to settle in.
