We (me, OH, two dogs and two mares) move to Ashbourne over the weekend to our new house. A bit if mixed emotions as bought the house of our dreams 3 years ago to have to relocate now but we know it's the right thing to do as I will for the first time in my life have some work/life balance. Ashbourne is beautiful too.

We have plenty of land with new place but the area is very new to me so if anyone can recommend a good vet, farrier, instructor and/or riding school that would be fab. I'm not currently riding due to a bad fall but will be back in the saddle in the next few months. Good places to ride, hack Etc would also be appreciated. Thank you

Hope your move goes smoothly, Ashbourne and the surrounding area is lovely.

I am nearer to Leek, but Beaver Hall is not that far from Ashbourne with competitions, tack shop etc. You could ask about other contacts there. They do lessons for children, I am not sure about adults.

Ashbourne is a brilliant place to be. For vets look at Blenheim or Pool House Equine, comp venues, lads close (Eland Lodge, Beaver Hall, Field House, Hargate for a start). Food at Country wide in town by M&S food.
Where abouts in Ashbourne are you and I can prob give you some hacking routes?

Welcome to Derbyshire - best place on earth!

You're very close to us! I do love Ashbourne. We use Bakewell Equine Vets, they are great, would recommend them 100%, you also have Mcmurtry & Harding right by you too.
Beaver Hall is great, so is Eland Lodge (EL is nearer to you). At Christmas, you have the Four Shires Bloodhounds, whom I hunt with, they meet in the market square, a wonderful friendly bunch! You also have Lester Lowe and Countrywide for tack and feed, as well as any other equestrian things you may need.

Welcome to Deryshire! :)

Thank you everyone - good to hear such positive messages about the area. We love it - very peaceful, though fun in winter i imagine! My OH will love all the horsey things to do locally - he tolerates only!!!!!!
