Moving to Bakewell

And I need to recommendations for vets, farriers, feed merchants, hay supplies etc.

I think I have land sorted, but if anyone knows of any of the estates or farmers who rent bits off that info would be greatly appreciated too, 'just in case'.

Sorry I can't help in the Bakewell area but you could try sites like yell.com initially for vets, farriers etc - until you get to know the area.

I did that when we moved here and ended up with a lame horse after the farrier had finished with his feet. Found out that none of the locals would touch him with a barge pole, but didn't know that when I first got here. Would much rather go on recommendations, but obviously if none are forthcoming I will have to bite the bullet and browse Yell

A call to local yards/RS might be worth a go? See if anyone can recommend a farrier/vet?

I'm afraid we aren't. We love our job here but OH's parents are not in good health and running a guest house in North Wales isn't the best job to have when you have to drop everything at short notice and drive 4 hours to get home. We are therefore moving closer to home - 50 minutes drive away, close enough, but not too close!

Will do Callly, it is certainly a relief. I didn't realise how stressed and worried OH was until we decided to move, he now has a spring in his step and is sleeping properly again

I haven't actually been into Bakewell town for a good few years now, but I assume the Bakewell Tart Shop is still there. I used to prefer their ordinarly cakes, but will certainly offer Bakewell Tarts - I find they are best with custard

I am so jealous you are moving there I love it and the peak district will be great hacking! Sorry to hear of the circumstances though x
