I'm moving to Farndon in the next few weeks and would love to have a riding / chat buddy as I won't know anybody in the area and I will be bored out of my mind!
I was hoping for a yard with good hacking and a xc course, however back to reality lol
I have a 5 year old ISH and she naps if she rides alone, shes not very confident at the moment hence me wanting a riding friend and a socail life if possible lol, I originally brought her with a view to XC but to be honest I don't think she is bold or brave enough and I will prob just end up SJ only local RC stuff i must add so ideally want to hire out XC courses for schooling sessions with another horse to give her confidence.
Well thats the plan! lol
Well, most of the livery yards I know with xc tend to be further into east cheshire, and pricey with it!
Hacking wise you'll be better off looking at places near delemere forest, tarvin, kelsall, or to north wales. I keep mine in barrow which has good hacking. Guildon sutton is alright, Christleton, Waverton are all ok for hacking too.
There are a few yards with off road riding, mine has but also milton brook, south chester livery yard, holme farm.
There are a couple at Alvanley but your looking at 30 min drive to get there.
Kelsall is pretty close though which has gallops, schools, farm ride, xc field so easy to get to places to train. Somerford is about 1hr away, but there is Tilstone gallops ride too
There is also a new farm ride in Mostyn which looks pretty decent.
If your after baby excursions Flint and Denbigh rc is very small and friendly, as is East Clwyd, I'm a member there as are a few others at my yard.
Losing the will to live now I have scanned through all livery yards in Cheshire area and North wales area which are either full, too expensive or too far away my mare will be kept in a shed at this rate, 3 weeks to find livery!
There are loads of equestrian centres that have livery but i don't want her at a Riding or equestrian centre, so far the only 2 that seem anywhere suitable are Derby Park Stud and Bolesworth eventing both seem very big and intimidating though!
Hi
I am fairly local to Farndon, Is-y-coed, bout 5 min drive from Holt (just across the river). I don't know of any livery stables with spaces but many of the farmers rent stables with grazing in the area. Do you want me to ask around for you? May be short term solution bit better than the garden shed. I will also ask my parents for you, I am in the process of buying a horse (not ridden for many a year) and will be keeping it at their place, so a hacking buddy would be great.
I know of a livery yard just outside Farndon, will call a friend for the number. There was also a DIY yard on the corner opposite the Farndon Village Hall but I don't know the contacts for that.
Hi OpinionUK I'm also Isycoed (hi DiddyDavies!!) but used to keep my horse in Farndon. The livery yard I used is no longer run as one, but there is one at the bottom by the Kennels, owned by a chap called John Whittingham. If you PM me if you want the details, I'll get the number for you as a couple of my friends are there. There are a few yards round Isycoed and one big one in Rossett (about 4 miles away). Again, PM me if you want details.
Good luck with the move and may see you out and about one day soon!
Hi Foxy Girl, hopefully I will have my new horse in a week or two and would love to find a hack, fun ride buddy for weekends or in the summer an occasional evening. Or just someone to give advice, chat bout problems etc. I haven't ridden for 15yrs so a bit rusty and stabling on own can be a bit lonely sometimes. Pm me if you wish to chat etc.
