Moving to the area this summer...

To be closer to sister-in-law as we know we only havebup to a year left with her...but hoping and praying for more.

To be honest, we are highly likely to want to stay as parents in law will really need us, so we will be looking for a house either with a little land/yard attached, or close to livery facilities. We have four impeccably behaved dogs. They don't do tricks or win obedience awards, but they stop at the kitchen door like there is an invisible wall, don't go upstairs and are very quiet and well mannered.

I will definitely be bringing one horse, possibly two. We would quite happily live in a caravan if it meant we could be in a rural position.

We would look to rent, at least until cemented up there and have a budget of up to £1200 a month, butnit would have to be bleddy good for that.

So, if any of you lovely lot spot anything within 50 miles of Manchester, please let me know.

You will probably find that the areas north of Manchester offer the best value for money, especially towards haslingden, rawtenstall etc. I'm in ribble valley which is still within distance (52 miles from my doorstep to my parents near Manchester airport) but it is more expensive.

50 miles around Manchester covers a huge area and within it are some lovely areas of the countryside. Traffic around Manchester can be really bad so you might want to narrow your search to be a bit nearer your in laws.
Hope you can find something and move goes smoothly, will keep a look out when I am driving around for rural rented property.

Where abouts in manchester are your SIL and in laws? Have lived in Cheshire all my life and worked in manchester, from bacup to Salford quays for last 10 years. May be able to help. Will you be having to commute to a job oin manchester or will you try to find a job near where you find a house???

You will have a good choice of areas then on west side, Cheshire and Landc both offer good horse country.

If you oh is working in Lpool and your inlaws are in Manchester, you have quite a large area of country/semi-rural between the two. Depending on which side on Manchester you need to get to would be my only concern really.

The m62 between Lpool and Manchester is the busiest section of motorway outside the m25 - I did the commute from Lpool to rochdale for a year and it can be a nightmare, but definitely do-able.

I currently work in Lpool and keep my horse towards Warrington.

Try wright manly estate agents, they seem to have all the nice rural properties.

Daresbury in Cheshire would put you about 20mins from both Manc and Lpool, lovely rural village, has a hunt meet, lots of livery yards and horsey stuff local.

I live 50 miles outside of Manchester in north wales. Very good value for equestrian properties if you look properly

In laws are in Prestwich. I can work from home, but actually, there are some great jobs up there so having a look at those too.

I'd say to have a look around astley/tyldseley area (higher green is lovely) - not far from the lancs so easy travel to lpool, not far from manchester/prestwich, and it's a lovely area, lots of countryside.

i keep my horse in boothstown which isn't far from astley and theres miles and miles and miles of hacking.
