So I'm possibly going to do a Masters in Utrecht for a year, starting next September, and am starting planning now. I will most likely take two horses with me and need livery - accommodation with livery would also be good!

Can any Dutch dwellers advise on these - my location preference would be south of Utrecht in the Betuwe or to the east, or maybe not so far and somewhere like Geldermalsen or Culemborg - is there much livery around there and how much could I expect to pay for full livery 7 days a week, not including riding? Is there generally much turnout? How is the hacking?

And I think I need to pass some exams for both hacking and for affiliated showjumping, is this correct? How do I go about registering for these?

Dank U wel voor iets inlichtingen!

In Holland there isn't much turnout. Most stables think it makes the horse lazy. And if they turn out, it is usually for 2-3 hours. You really have to look well for stables that turn out all day.

There is loads of livery stables in Holland, never too short on them. The hacking in Utrecht should be alright, if you're really out of the city. You don't need to pass any exams for showjumping or hacking. If you want to do affiliated SJ, you will have to register to the KNHS.

Do you mean full livery as in, putting horse in, out, changing rugs etc.? (they don't ride your horse over here, if you want that done you have to pay extra)
The Dutch don't do full livery. You have to do everything yourself or pay extra or be very lucky to find a stable that does everything for you!

The usual costs for livery around Utrecht is around 250-350 euro's.

I have found these for you
