The big move is next week! :D

Any advice on moving? Haven't done it in a few years and then we had very chilled ponies who didn't mind what you did. Andy is a bit of a stress head and as he's looking so good weight wise I don't want him stressing anything off.

What can I do to make it as un-stressful as possible?
We plan to move him next Sat evening and then he will be in all night and turned out Sunday morning.

I'd say just keep as much the same as you can: buckets hay bedding etc... could even take a bit of bedding with you all clean new stuff sometime makes them really feel change...? But yeah personally would also ride or lunge when u get there so they just slip into routine, less of a big deal. Good luck though hope it all goes well xxxx

Just make sure everything is ready at the other end so he can go straight into his stable, nice deep bed, plenty of hay and then leave him be to settle, the more you bother him the more bothered he will be! Feed him after 30 mins minimum and then keep an eye on him from a distance for a little while, if he is happy, leave him for the night. If you are hanging over the stable door and worrying, he will worry ;) I am sure he will be fine!

We plan to bring some of his current shavings with us and the rubber matting so the stable will smell like him. His neighbour is a very friendly chap so I think they will get on well and he has a view of the whole yard so I think he will be quite happy.

Is it worth bringing some water from the old yard for his buckets that night?

Was planning on taking him on a quiet little hack once we got him there (they have wonderful hacking where we are moving so very excited)

Is it worth looking at herbal clamers or something similar ust incase he isn't settling?

He will take his lead form you so once you are cool, calm and carry on like there is no big difference he will to. I would be a great believer in ride them out straight away. Alot of people disagree with that but I feel a tired horse will cope alot better than a fresh one.

I guess when you ride out straight away its no different to taking them to a show. Hopefully once moved I will be a lot calmer as I'm very stressed at current yard, so hoping this will make a difference in him.

For me - and some may disagree - I like to turn the horse out in an individual paddock straight away. They can meet their neighbours over the fence, take in the unfamiliar sights and sounds and have a graze. Try to stick to your routine if you bring in etc.:):)

If he is still worring you could put a bit of rescue remedy in his feed as that works on horses too. If you dont want to bring some old water then put some squash in so it tastes a bit nicer :)
Good luck hope it all goes well and you can both be a lot happier :)

Good idea with the paddock but that is totally not possible where we are going or would like to do that. Will just make sure we boot him up. :)

I didn't think of rescue remedy! Duhh :p I'll give him some if he is stressing but hopefully he won't need it :)
