Moving yards?

Last year I lived in the same city as my university so kept my horses there. I kept my two adults at one yard but it didn't allow youngsters so I had to keep little 'un across the road at a smaller yard. Eventually I decided to move the girls over to join the baby so all the horses were at the same place.

Over the summer my flat with some friends fell apart and I decided to live at home (40 odd miles/ 45 min drive away). The yard is right next to my university which I am at most days a week and I didn't fancy moving from a yard where the horses and I were happy and settled. However, recently one of my girls has been breaking out as the fences are battery, not mains, powered and the snow is killing them off. There are only 3 of us on the yard and the other 2 liveries make it up around 12 while I am in uni 9-5 meaning they normally end up fixing it.

Understandably they are annoyed about this but I can't see what I can do short of moving her to another yard with better fencing. I also realised recently that if there was an emergency I would be a good drive away which is not idea.

I do stay at my bfs in the city some nights a week but mostly spend my time at home. If I did move it would mean not seeing the girls in daylight during the winter weekdays but I would save £20 on petrol.

So would you move or stay where I am?

I would move them closer to home if it was me but it all depends how much time you will be spending in Edinburgh with your OH as to whether I would move them closer to home or not... x I love having my girl half a mile from home but then I don't have a boyfriend in town (actually I don't have a boyfriend full stop :( )
