Mr Big Cat

I believe he is expecting his first foals this year....

I like him based on the fact that he is clearly competing properly (and produced well) and will add some foreign TB bloodlines to the UK - my only query is I would love to know what he failed his UK grading on as I believed he failed his SHB grading. He is listed as graded Brazilian Sports Horse but have never heard of this society before....

Hi i'm seriously considering using him this year but haven't seen him up close in the flesh yet.

I really like him as a competition horse & he seems very trainable & a nice person.

I've just had a close look at some of the pictures & to me it looks like he's wearing Imprint shoes. We've had success with these shoes on both laminitic's, horses which aren't 100% sound on hard ground & those with generally bad feet that you can't get shoes on!

It does make me a little suspicious that a young, fit competition horse is wearing these but it could also be a very genuine reason, ie. he pulled both front shoes off or they're trying to preserve him on hard ground.

I didn't notice them at Hartpury but he's certainly wearing them at Burghley & on a couple of the Fredericks photos.

I wouldn't dismiss him fully for this but would love to know the reasoning behind it.

Thanks for the replies, I really like the look of him. I am thinking about using him on a head stud book graded mare by Welton Crackerjack who competed to novice level BE. The foot aspect would worry me, as mare is very sound and has great feet and would love to know the reason for failing grading with SHB. But on the other hand he has got foals due (by ET) to Headley Britannia and Be My Guest so maybe he should be good enough for my mare (lol) :)

I know my mare is a 3/4 bred with not so good feet! We have had soundness issues in the past due to the shape of her feet (which would have been better had they been attended to properly earlier) so yes it also worries me.

I'm still tempted to go & visit him but very much debating on my choices for this year! He's what i'm looking for, a tough (or maybe not), nice moving TB (all suggestions welcome!) but soundness is a must!
