My boy came in last night with 2 little nicks on his face then tonight he has a big gash across his forehead ! Once I cleaned it up I realised it looks worse than it is and he was fine about me cleaning it up ( while other half held his feed bucket) !

I just dont understand how he does it ? he is out with 2 other geldings and they are all quite chilled out and the other 2 never come in with any injuries but mine is always being dabbed with cotton wool or being sprayed with antispetic for something??

Maybe just a typical TB ??

My old TB used to be like this, every night he had something or other on him, they ranged from minor to major, when i was on holiday my friend looked after him for me - she said she dreaded going to yard and getting him in for fear of what he would have wrong with him each night, I left her a full medical kit for him and the vets emergency number.

All thoroughbreds are born with the number to the TB injury Hotline on speed dial i'm afraid....they know its down to them to keep the Vet profession in work!

Sometimes you wonder why and how though...!

Yeeep... we have two TB liveries at the yard, and between them one of them is ALWAYS lame or injured. Anything from a small cut to a hematoma (sp?), they are just constantly hurting themselves. It's not like we have anything hazardous lying around... of the 20 horses on the yard, these are the only two I've ever seen injured! They really are daft.

Heheh I remember my TB alwyas had some lump or bump. I had only had him for two days and he came in really lame wouldnt put any weight on his off hind at all. He came in hobbling I rang his old owner as she was nearby and she told me to hide out of his view. Guess what, yes he had a bit of swelling but with me out of sight all four legs worked and could weight bear
