My OH has a book of 'True strories from Private Eye' from 1971. In it this story; an owner of a local cafe bought two guard dogs to protect him from the marauding bikers he was encountering. Although the dogs had seen off dozens of Hell's Angels one met his match when he came face to face with horse dealer Mr Ifor Williams. On catching the dog 'looking at him in a funny way' Mr Williams picked the dog up by his forepaws and bit of its ear. Mr Willians said 'I deal with horses like this all time. Its the only language they understand'....
