Mr M update, for anyone who knows what he's like.

Came out to play on Sunday morning, he's had most of the summer off chilling out in the field apart from coming in to be groomed/farrier etc, but he's not done any work since April time and even then just steady away basic schooling, so its given him chance to let him chill out and for the HRT to kick in, before we start to fitten him up for another saddle fitting come autumn time I think.

So feeling brave, (I came off on Friday evening so rather than letting an old habit die hard, I thought I'd inject a little risk to my lovely Sunday morning) and I'd bob on him bare back.

There is not many 4 yr olds you can drag out of a field, after having no work and bob a bridle on and jump on straight away without testing the water on the lunge first, specially ones with Mr M's history

. But he was an absolute saint, I was in fact rather emotional and it did bring a tears to my eyes as I wrapped my arms around his neck to cuddle him and tell him how proud I was because he was being such a good boy, he stood still at the mountain block while I climbed on board, (you have strategically place yourself in the exact right spot when its not a cob with a built in arm chair or something small when your riding bare back...and to avoid any ermm uncomfortable movements

) he waited until I set ''ok walk on'', stopped when ever I said ''and standing'' and he really enjoyed himself, no spooking or being too interested in the mare in the next field.

So after five minutes just walking around I decided to take him in to the back field, a huge open fenced grass field, now this would be test for him, he's never been ridden in there before and I knew it would be out of his comfort zone, (excuse to nap/ spook or just be plain silly) in view from this field was one of the other fields full of mares with their foals at foot (from the stud down the road) but he saw them and didn't take a second glance and we walked round this field and again he was so good, really looked after his mum.

Well you should of seen his little face, he knows when he's been a good lad, he looked so pleased with himself bless him,.

He's known for being difficult, if I had a pound for every time it's suggested that it may be best to sell him etc (and quite understandably so at times I agree) but he means the world to me and that 30 minutes of well, nothing to anyone but was a big thing to be able to that and to trust him, it just made my day, my week....even my year!

What a lovely tale! He sounds to be really coming into his own. I have only ridden my wee beastie bare back once, which with my confidence is amazing, but you've inspired me to try again.
