Decided to take the boy to a stressage today. First one since January as he has had a tweak somewhere that was bugging him, Today was about getting him out again after having a rest in the field and just a bit of hacking. He didn't seem to have lost too much fitness which is excellent! We did P13 in which he was a bit lazy, doing his own thing including a huge buck, luckily before the bell went! And shaking his head and ambling along during his free walk!! We had a team talk during coffee break and headed off to do N24 Which A (his rider) had only seen on thursday night ! - deciding to use this test a schooling session in discipline for M in that he WILL NOT take the piddle and ignore his rider, well They did REALLY, REALLY well - better in fact than the prelim! They finished with 63.4% and second place in the Novice which we were really surprised about seeing as he broke on the first canter and 60.3% in the prelim finishing 5th, and we had some really good competition as the scores we all very close. Just need to refine that canter now as it's a little gung ho, but that's going to come with time and balance - not an easy thing for a cob built to pull a cart!!
Anyways, a few pics!
His hunting canter in the warm up!
Trot work - he gets good marks for his trot makes up for his "interesting" canters!
nice pat for being a good boy!
And my favourite pics - this is what he does when he wants attention, he is clever and knows if he kicks, paws or creates a din/has a paddy he gets negative attention, however, if he pulls these cute faces he gets a sweetie, love his character!
I'm STARVING!!
And finally - Apart from his rubbish coat (moulting) and bad clip (me!) I am pleased with his condition we can feel ribs! I am looking forward to some ridden showing this year and it will be interesting to see if I am told to put more condition in him....He weighs 470kg on a weighbridge, he was 600kg ish when he came to me I know what I prefer!!
When he arrived!
