Mr Neddy must be out there in the South East

I’m still looking in the South East for a suitable neddy. I have been hunting for over 3 months now and am now turning to H&HF readers for help in the hope that you know of a suitable gelding in the South East (I don’t want to travel too far out of Sussex – 1 1/2hr drive max).

Ideally I want a loan with a few to purchase – must be a gelding 16h-16.2h, up to 14 years old, MW/HW hunter type, up to weight, responsive to the leg (a voice activated one is always handy!) sensible for hacking, sponsored riders may be a bit of dressage perhaps, must be good on road. I don't know of anything at present, did you decide not to buy the horse with sandcracks? I will keep my eyes peeled for you. Might be worth checking your local riding club websites for members ads

Have you tried rowebuck stud in sussex? They often have some lovely horses for sale and their trial facilities are excellent. We were looking at horses from there however found a suitable horse closer to home. Were v helpful though

Well folks it’s now August and I still haven’t found a suitable neddy (have come close on a couple of occasions though).

I have a reasonable budget but I’m really finding it difficult. I have been to a number of dealers more than 3-4 times but I really think some of them are now classing me as a time waster by not returning my calls or texts etc etc.

I even tried to contact a dealer further a field but they don’t reply to my messages or texts either but have noticed that they are advertising more horses. So where do I go from here? I know that people have been busy watching/attending the Olympics and its still holiday time but a text wouldn’t go a miss.
