Clumber going in for investigations into his possible back/neck pain? £1500 estimate !!!!!!!!
Hope this does actually pick up the problem. He's still yelping occasionally, often if I pat his bum or
accidentally brush his back leg! He's got no other signs of problems still racketing around and
happy in himself. Results in 7-10 days, compares rather dramatically with my MRI which took 9 weeks for the results to
appear !

Ouch indeed..over here we'd pay 500 euros for a dogs MRI...and I thought that was a lot.

I agree with you about the better service, but surprisingly a private human MRI starts from about £200

Ring the MRI centre directly and ask for prices.
Can often be had for under £1000

Are you insured? There are often two price tables.

No he developed this before I managed to get him insured ! This is a mobile unit through a vet hospital, not my vets.

Snuffles shop around a bit more maybe. My sons uninsured dog had her back MRI at a famous vet specialist in Surrey, and results given within hours and treatment plan worked out according to budget immediately. £800 for scan plus couple of hundred for steroid injections and meds and follow up visit. We made it clear she was uninsured (exclusions due to previous problems) and they were very understanding.

Mine had an MRI at the RVC, results within hours, £1800. Bonkers price.

I just had a skull (or inside it at least) MRI, and then a full spine MRI, and it was not as expensive as that. The results were in within less than a week as well. Not as good as when I pulled the top off my arm, and on that occasion the results were interpreted by the consultant within an hour!
