I'm considering putting my horses on MSM as a preventative. I used NAF msm many yrs ago when I had a horse who had done a lot of mileage & it kept him sound whilst I racked up more. Is this the one that people use & recommend?

Which brand of MSM do people use & why?

How much does it work out to on a daily basis? Or how long does "X" amount last?

What made you guys choose it over any other product?

I use NAF Msm for my mare who had a tear to her DDFT last year. I think it helps keep her sound and I chose NAF as I think their products are very good. I also use their Oestress as it seems to do its job too. I use 2 scoops of the MSM daily, the big tub seems to last around 4/5 weeks.

Pure MSM is very expensive and very little is needed, most of the stuff for sale wholesale is diluted with god knows what and it is a marketing ploy, and a complete waste of money.

I've switched from a glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM joint supplement to just MSM as I believe it is the ingredient that made the difference to my horse, having fed various expensive supplements with and without it. This is an experiment to see if I can save a bit of money without losing the benefit, so I don't know yet whether it will be successful. I also believe MSM helps protect the skin against mud fever.

What I can say is that I had a big surprise in as much as the Equine America MSM was much cheaper than the NAF version. It was £14.99 for a 1lb tub. The scoop size is very small, so it looks economical if it turns out to do the job.
