Why is it beyond people to put their muck on a heap rather than dump it on the approach to it ! I spend a lot of time trying to keep heap tidy and it seems as if there is no track up the heap liveries cant make one themselves but just dump muck at nearest point ! I expect this happens on all yards, but it is my No.1 moan !! It IS a diy yard too!
 
Because they are lazy so and so's that are only too happy to leave it to someone else to do! They have no idea about the way to stack a muck heap to aid decomposition. My pet, pet bete noir, so I shall join you as I am so proudly anally retentive about a neat muck heap!
 
Has anyone actually told the others to do it properly? I find it quite satisfying to build a nice muck heap but i very much resent having to tidy up everyone elses muck before i can do mine
 
we have a guy at our livery yard that flatly refuses to fork his muck back, says it should be included in the cost of his diy and thats what the staff are employed for !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunatley he is one of those people that has his opinions and his are the only opinions !!!!!!!

If i was the YO i'd put it back in his stable

Don't get me started...messy muckheaps really do my head in, and it isn't rocket science to simply fork it up and trample it down a bit. Today our yard muckheap looks like an interesting ziggurat and is a work of art

it's probably the same genes that makes my husband put his dirty washing somewhere in the vicinity of the laundry basket rather than in it. But I agree it is very annoying! People in my yard moan when the owner (who is also a good friend) puts up notices about not picking feet out on the yard, clear up poo etc., but if they just did it she wouldn't have to put the notices up!

I know someone exactly like that, he also thought that feeding and haying his horses should be included in his diy cost. Possibly th emost irritating man i've ever known

Me too - it's one of the many things I'm anally retentative about !
 
Oh, I know! Drives me mad! We have a muck trailer now which goes off to the local farmer for his fields but it's still easier to load in a particular way and there is a certain person who cannot take this fact on board...

My proudest ever moment (well, nearly) was when I was sole charge on a little hunt yard years ago. You could see the muck heap from the dining room window of the house (they had their priorities right!) and when my employer's dad the old Colonel - proper old-fashioned hunting sort - came for Christmas lunch he complimented me on my keeping of the muck heap... I was so thrilled! How sad.

On my yard, we have "Muck boxes" and we put out muck in that and then the farmer puts it in a trailer and that goes down to the field.
We don't have to go near the trailer! and yet people still can't be bothered to empty their wheelbarrows and just leave them hanging around still full
 
That doesn't happen at our yard. Mainly because your head would no longer be attached to your head, courtesy of the YO
