I've never paid to have mine taken away, I advertise on the local free ads (friday ads) and people turn up with loads of bags and dig it up and take it away, some of them even bring me presents so far this year I've had a bottle of white wine (already cold) a box of chocolates (lindt) and some freshly caught cod, which was absolutely delicious. Some people who ring are quite funny and want it ready bagged or me to supply the bags but most are fine. They managed to take 2 years worth of muck so pleased as didnt want to have to pay.
I'm also in Lincs & had a similar amount taken away 2 summers ago. It cost me £60 for four cart loads to be removed (£15 per load was the quote), which was most of the heap but not all. There was quite a lot of work involved, ie bringing a tractor with a bucket on the front & unhitching it from the cart, loading it, re-hitching, then driving off a mile to dump each load.
It took most of the morning, so this seemed a fair enough price.
As the farmer is busier than ever now I doubt he will do it again for that price, especially as he can't use the manure anyway. I'm plucking up courage to ask him again before winter.
This was about 3 years worth of muck from 3 horses.
technically some farmers are not allowed imported muck or already have enough of own for nitrate vunerable zones so need to be a little discreet in taking it, another load of needless red tape!
he plans to put it straight on his field at the back of us after harvest then presumably will plough in before its reseeded.guess it will take a few hours though as plenty of it.was meant to take it last 2 summers but got behind with harvesting.
