Does anybody hire a skip for muck only? I've finally sorted it that the horses can have stables this winter, the only thing i'm slightly worried about is the extra muck this will produce we don't have and one to remove it, so currently we have a muck heap that's rotting down nicely.

I've been quoted £140 for an 8 yard skip... which they are fine with us keeping until full.

anyone else do it thie way?

If you were in NW Surrey, that is very very cheap for a skip that size.
Usually around a hundred more here.

Adjacent YO has a skip in ( a 6 yarder) and has this taken every 3-4 weeks, no idea what she pays tho.

That said, I pay around £70 twice a year to have the equivalent of an 8 yd skip of much removed from my heap. Its well stamped down so compacted (means I can get lots more on it)

I did this last winter, worked really well. £120 for delivery plus £5 a week rental. I had it emptied twice so cost me about 300 in total. More than muck heap removal but worth it as i don't really want a muck heap on my land and find it hard to get someone to collect it so it worked great for me and I plan to do it again this winter

It's what I currently use as no facilities in new place yet. Been here 5 months and on our second skip. It's not the cheapest way of doing it - skip isn't cheap (yours is a lot cheaper than mine) but it works

Yep used to do this before I built my muck heaps. Paid £100 for as long as I wanted it but only had/have two horses. Used normal local skip hire company not a specialist one. Got different sized skips too depending on what was going spare!

We have been doing this since March and we are on the third skip. You will need to obtain suitable old door/sturdy ramp! Also ensure that the skip has a low end- they vary! That's a good price btw.
