My mum has asked for a pair of muckers for Christmas. Once upon a time I would have used this as a brilliant excuse for visiting all the surrounding tack shops, but here tack shops are few and far between and I'm having to go off online stores. It seems the fashion this year is for fake fur and boots half way up your leg. Mum wants her boots for gardening /allotment /walking so must be waterproof and warm, and she is not a fake-fur sort of person.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend my old mountain horse jobs - but they don't seem to do them any more :(

So, lovely people on H&H, please can you recommend muckers that might be suitable (and ideally can be bought online).

Thank you!

mate of mine wanted a pair for walking the dog last xmas, got her a pair of half calf length fake sheepskin lined ones from Tog 24, i got them from the shop but i think theyre online to, hope it helps :)

Thanks for your suggestions so far. I have a very old pair of the joules (nowhere near as posh as those!), but I think they'll be too tall for a quick and easy pair to pull on or off.

I did rather like the shires ones though - anyone have direct experience with them?

I've also found the harry hall fenton boots (the non-fluffy ones) but they seem to have really poor reviews - anyone able to comment?

Thanks again,

x

I had some great ones made by Town & Country, called Charnwood that lasted for three winters on the yard. It seems they don't make them any longer but you can get some if you're the right size! I normally take a 5 but a size 4 of these fits me well. There are some others on google.

PS: T & C also make a short welly which is very comfy.

woof Wear do a nice short mucker boot, look quite smart.

I had a look at those this week at a local shop because I liked the look of them on paper but they seemed very clunky and clumsy to me.

Cotton Traders also do some but again, they seem too chunky and hard so might not be very comfortable if she's bending her foot a lot while gardening.
