I realise this is a super long shot, as mucocutaneous pyoderma is pretty rare, but does anyone have any experience of this?

Very long tale of scabby eyes and two toes(not beside each other), suppressed with steroids as first opinion vet had no idea what it was but did the standard abx and steroids. Stayed on a minimal dose of steroids until earlier this year until minimal dose was no longer working and we were having to up titrate more often

Referred to dermatology vet. Initially suspected lupus, but biopsies came back as mucocutaneous pyoderma. Two months of co amoxiclav. Huge improvement. Finished abx in May. By July has started to become scabby and sore again. More so than before we originally started steroids

Trial of fucidin topical cream. Further worsening

Second biopsies in August as dermatologist still convinced it could be lupus. Second biopsies came back same as the first.

4 week course of cefalexin. She absolutely hated that. Refused to eat. Has lost several kg. Currently will only eat chub roll and sardines (I'm well aware that nutritionally this is not great, but currently just need her to eat)

Also currently having silver sulfalazine cream on her toes, but any fiddling with her toes make her lick them so she's wearing socks as much as possible. Also, the number of affected toes has now increased to 4....

Back at the dermatologist today but feeling very much like we aren't getting anywhere with this

Trip to the dermatologist.

On immunosuppressive dose of Apoquel. Had bloods checked yesterday and white cells, lymphocytes and neutrophils all normal. A month's trial and repeat haematology.

Also took a swab from her toes as they are still looking wet. Keeping going with the silver sulfalazine cream and socks...

Can possibly try reducing the dose if there is a good response after a month to find the minimal dose for effectiveness

She's still refusing to eat her actual food but has eaten biscuits if she's had a chub roll so given she's lost 2.5kg (usually 34kg) I just want her to eat as the first priority

I haven't come across this but didn't want to read and run. It sounds very stressful to manage. I hope that the new medication will bring some relief and she will start to feel able to eat more again.

Have you tried original tinned chappie? When I have off colour greyhounds this has been their food of choice.

I haven't because it's ingredients include "cereals" and she's allergic to wheat. Chub roll is pretty similar I think. She's eating that happily and took a little bit of her normal food tonight so hopefully we've turned a corner....
