My boy has started with mud fever since he came home from being backed-no mud for 4 weeks followed by torrential rain isnt the best! Normally I'd keep him in for a week to clear it up, but he has a locking stifle so can't stay in. He ends up with a very locked leg if he isn't out for at least 5 hours a day.
Any ideas on how I can treat the mud rash and keep him turned out?

Keratex Mud Guard is quite good for keeping the legs dry and clean.

For the scabs I would try cleaning a couple of times a day with Hibiscub and applying antibiotic cream (my vets prescibe a great cream for mud fever, so might be worth asking yours?).
