my pony has mud fever on 1 leg only. she has a few small scabs but nothing major at all, however her leg is still slightly filled. is this the norm for mud fever?

its been a tiny bit puffy for about 2 weeks now. it was very very swollen at the beg of month when she had a cracked heel but as that heeled its gone right down almost back to normal (she had norodine and bute for 1 week as it was really painful for her)

hibiscrubbed it to get it clean and now keep it away from water at all costs.

sudocream it when the scabs are very dry and they seem to be falling off naturally when the skin underneath has healed.

use iv horse MFP oil to keep the mud off otherwise i use baby oil

did try the equilibrium chaps, what a waste of £ they were!!

Get yourself some udder salve, and apply libraly to the affected areas two or three times a week. Sudocream won't really do anything - although of course the weather is nice and dry.

udder salve and cover with cling film.

remove and repeat every 24 hrs. for about 4 days, remove completely and leave horse in, preferably on straw for 24hours, to allow affected area to "breathe", wash with hibi-scrub, dry thoroughly, and repeat above if necessary.

No need to wash, and preferable not to.

The best product i have ever used - http://www.mudfever.net/

recomended to my friend and it has cleared up serious mud fever on her mare whose legs had also swollen up.

it truly is best i've used and so simple wroked treat on my youngster whose legs i couldn't treat easily and regularly soon cleared it up!!!
