My NF is lame and it looks like there are two possible causes- an incident with a gate or mud fever. Can anyone send me pics of mud fever on a foreleg so I can compare? If it is mudfever its odd as there is no mud in the field (other than by the trough and gate) and its very severe (vet is booked for tomorrow) I have tried to get it to heal but due to the location it keeps re-opening- which makes me think its a cut. ..... although could be mud fever....

Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of my boys, but I know that you don't need mud for mud fever, mine has had it twice in the bloody summer! The vet said it was cellulitus when he was first lame, probably from a little scab, the second time he realised it was mud fever causing it.
The are a few on here though - http://www.google.co.uk/images?rlz=1C1CHNU_enGB362GB362&q=mud+fever+pictures&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=4RrcTIP9IMHPhAebtsXPAg&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCoQsAQwAA&biw=1280&bih=709

Good luck, hope your horse gets well soon x
