Georgie got a bit of mud fever last year so I am trying to get myself organised and have been looking at several preventative measures.
What do people use to prevent mud fever?
I am on assisted DIY and have him turned out for me in the week so I need something that either is quick and easy to apply or better still something that I can apply over the weekend and will last all week.

I am also confused as to whether I should wash his legs when I bring him in or not. Some people tell me to wash him off and bandage him with some leg wraps others say leave it and brush off when dry. Only trouble with that option is he is turned out for me in the week and I would like to keep my requests to a minimum.

I use udder salve - and have found it to be brilliant stuff.

I never wash the legs off, and usually apply the salve every couple of days. Not only does it help prevent MF, but it has great healing properties too. So if MF does creap up - slam the stuff on and it will clear it up pretty quickly.

i shave mine's legs cause he gets it easy, he's already had a touch this year then put either udder salve or powder on to stop it, i wash and dry his legs when he comes in too

i use udder cream as well but dont know how often are you supposed to chuck it on- i was doing it every morning before he went out.
i've also heard you shouldnt wash their legs off as removes all natural defences against the bacteria.
