my pony has just developed mud fever about 5 days ago, i use malaseb to get rid of the scabs and soreness, his legs were like balloons and after 5 days of consistant treatment from malaseb his legs are back to normal with no swelling and no scabs.
he has now got some flakey areas on the red skin were the scabs used to sit, do i need to scrub this off? or is this the skin healing after the scabs have been there?

Don't keep washing it and leave the scabs alone just keep putting on a barrier cream as mentioned above or some silver antibacterial cream or flamazine will help keep infection away and soften the scabs, scabs form to protect vulnerable skin so leave them there to do that they will fall off on there own.
